My London Pictures

Ittenerary::
Saturday-flight, they have really cool video screens in the seatbacks of 777's that show the progress of the flight

Sunday: Walked along the south bank of the Thames, led by my cousin Monique who is living in London for a year for her Master's degree. We walked all the way from our hotel by the Tower of London to my cousin's "flat" over by Waterloo Station. Then we walked to the Imperial war museum, then to Trafalgar Square, then to Buckingham palace.

Monday: We went to Tower Bridge, saw the engineering plant, then toured the HMS Belfast, then to the British Museum. The British Museum is the sweeeettttest place i have ever been to. It seems like have of the artifacts from antiquity are there!!! Then the reading room, absolutely breathtaking.

Tuesday: We went to Windsor Castle, then the War Rooms under the new government offices, then we went to St. Martins in the Fields church.

Wednesday: Toured Kensington Palace, then walked the length of Hyde Park. We then proceeded to take the "tube" to Westminster to see Westminster Abby. Westminster Abby is so beautiful inside, and it seems that everybody is buried in there! Its amazing the amount of crypts in there, we got to see the coronation chair too, although the Stone of Scone got sent back to Scotland :-( how sad. I also went to see the musical "Chicago" too, it was really good.

Thursday: We went to see the Bank of England and Lloyeds, and then toured St. Paul's Cathedral for like 3 hours, I walked up 460 something stairs, not all the way to the top, but almost, the last balcony before the top. Amazing views from up there, and incredibly windy. Then I went to the National Gallery, absolutly amazing how many works of art the British own. It seems like every major paiter was in there, too many to mention. At night, I went on the Jack the Ripper Tour, walking all over East London.

Friday: Spent 3 hours in the Tower of London, walked by the Crown Jewels 3 times, incredibly oppulent. Got to go on a tour by the Beefeaters, the official keepers of the Tower of London, the stories of all the beheadings and stuff. Then we went to Greenwich for the afternoon, I stood in east and west hemisphere at the same time :-)

***Other notes::

1. The tube is awsome!!! we traveled on it everywhere, it is so much easier and cleaner than Boston. People run up the escalators, which sometimes, below ground is somewhere around 4 stories for the Jubilee line.

2. It is crazy walking by all the site from history, i kept getting little chills running up my spine in Westminster Abby.

3. Homeless people keep pigeons as pets, I am not joking.

4. It is just plain awsome. I want to go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has been a lot of writing, and I hope everybody else enjoyed their vacations as much as I enjoyed mine. Time to get back into the mindframe of school and read my Euro chapters.
